Caleb Buddemeyer announces his resignation
Dear Church,
I am resigning as Student Minister of Campbellsville Christian Church. My last Sunday will be January 18th, the Sunday after I lead our TCTC trip.
I think it’s important to get the hard news out of the way at the top. This has not been an easy decision to make, but I am confident that it is a good decision, certainly a decision that we have covered densely in prayer. The Lord’s hand is in it. I have accepted a student ministry position at Shelby Christian Church in Shelbyville, KY. I am not one to jump haphazardly to such conclusions, but this seems to us very much like the Lord’s specific providence, and so even as we leave with heaviness in our hearts, we step forward with great hope.
I love you all. Student ministry volunteers, I love you especially. Students, I love you especially especially. And I am sorry for the pain that will accompany our leaving.
I need to make it 100% clear that my exit is in no way a protest against Will. I think Will is an excellent addition to the pastoral team here and I am very hopeful for the good work he will do. I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to the staff of Campbellsville Christian Church, who I love so dearly. One of the reasons I chose to come and serve here was that I thought Rodney would steward and lead me well, and I was correct in my assessment. I thank the staff for their partnership over these years.
I entered this position at CCC following a string of short-tenured student ministers who stayed only a few years. My intent from the start was to stabilize the student ministry and, if the Lord provided, to see the 6th graders I started with all the way through to graduation. I am proud to have served the students of Campbellsville Christian Church for seven and a half years, to have stood here a couple years ago now with that 6th grade class and bless them as they took their next step past graduation and into adulthood.
I am so thankful for the fruit that has been borne in the time I have had here. I am profoundly thankful for the students who have entered into saving faith and baptism in my time here. I am profoundly thankful for the moments of continuing discipleship when one of the parables of Jesus caught a student’s heart in a new way, for opportunities of leading our young people in serving the poor and overlooked, for marveling at the psalms and grappling with the toughest questions our culture asks us today, for every night spent worshiping together in song and games and scripture up in the Loft. I am thankful for the immense quantity of laughter I have shared with you, and for those tears we have shed together when we needed them.
Campbellsville Christian Church will always hold a significant place in my life story. You all have been a tremendous blessing to me. While I came in with lots of education and some experience, this is where I learned to be a youth minister. This is where my wife and I were married, surrounded and held up by your generosity. These things will go with me for as long as I live, and I am grateful for your ministry to me.
Sunday January 18th will be my last day here. I’m grateful to be able to lead TCTC still – it’s going to be a beautiful last hurrah. Student Ministry Volunteers, our kids always need you, but they will especially need you as CCC transitions to what comes next. Thank you for your service to these students – it is of eternal value. Students, I love you so, so much. I am so proud of you. It is very hard to leave you. I am sorry. Though I will no longer be serving as Student Minister of Campbellsville Christian Church, I will continue to be yours. I will always back you, always be happy to help you think through any challenges facing you, always happy to help you wrestle with a passage of scripture or a struggle of life, always rejoice when you rejoice and mourn when you mourn. I will always be happy to see you and I am so hopeful for what God will continue to do in your lives. Thank you for letting me be your Student Minister.

When God Comes to ChurchWhen God Moves In - Sunday, December 14, 2025 In this message from the When God Moves In series, Will Warren explores what happens when God shows up in worship—and why joy is the natural result. Looking at Luke 2 and the responses of the shepherds, Simeon, and Anna, this sermon reminds us that joy is not based on circumstances but is found in the presence of Jesus.
