From Rodney:
In a little over 26 years of ministry here at Campbellsville Christian Church I have preached somewhere around 150 sermons on this stage, averaging 3-4,000 words – something around 600,000 words. But the words I am here to deliver now are undoubtedly the most difficult. I am here to let you know that I have resigned at the Discipleship Minister of Campbellsville Christian Church. This has most certainly not been an easy decision nor is it one I have taken lightly, nor has it been rushed.
Over the course of the past few months I have felt that the Lord was asking something of me and I have been pleading with the Lord to show Kari Jo and I the direction He would have us go. I have repeatedly returned to Philip’s call from the Spirit to go in Acts 8. He didn’t know where he was going or what to expect, but he obeyed in faith. It was only after he left that the Lord revealed what was next. We feel the prompting of the Spirit that it is time to step out of this chapter of ministry at C.C.C. That said, He has not opened another door or provided a clear opportunity for what’s next.
I need you to hear this clearly: trust me when I say nothing has happened, we are not angry, and we wholeheartedly love the people of Campbellsville Christian Church. We love Will and the church staff. It truly breaks our hearts to leave, but we believe the Lord is asking us to step out in faith.
Throughout scripture we see God working in unexpected ways. I trust He will do that for our family and for the church family. I pray that my departure may open the door to new opportunities and fruitful Kingdom work. Pray for us as well as we navigate the unknown and faithfully seek the Lord and His will. We are confident that the Lord will provide.
I will always think fondly of my 26 years at C.C.C. We’ve walked through so much together; joys and sorrows, celebrations and sadness. It has been an honor to serve the Lord alongside each of you over the years. I am grateful to be able to say, as Paul did to the church in Philippi,
“3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:3-6)
Will, the Elders, and I are still working out the exact timeline to ensure as smooth a transition as possible. My final day will most likely be sometime mid-October.
