The Purpose

Our lives are full of noise. We busily run from activity to activity. Often our devotional time feels cramped and rushed. Jesus modeled a healthy spiritual disciple called "silence and solitude." This is when Jesus withdrew by himself to a quiet place to spend time with His heavenly Father (Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16, 6:12). Christians since the time of Jesus have practiced this same discipline recognizing the need to get away from the busyness of life to sit quietly before God.

This retreat is an opportunity for you to get away for a few short hours to be with God. Silence and solitude helps us find God's peace in a chaotic world.

The Details

Meet at the church by 9:00 AM for the drive to Abbey of Gethsemani. Transportation will be provided. The Abbey provides a quiet environment to listen to God. They offer around 1,500 square acres of land to hike, walk, or find a peaceful spot to sit. You will have about 3 hours alone with God! (If you've never done something like this before don't worry! A guide book will be provided to give you ideas on how to spend the time.)

We will then drive to Bardstown for a late lunch together before returning to Campbellsville. (The cost of lunch is on you.)

*We will have another in the spring!
